Sen. Olympia Snowe recently honored Maine's 2004
Outstanding Older Worker, Gloria Young of Searsport.
Young is a licensed clinical social worker who
was recognized nationally for her leadership,
mentoring, and community service at a local hospice.
"This national award not only highlights [her]
countless hours of dedication and service to her
community, but it also recognizes the ageless spirit
of health professionals like Gloria who positively
impact the lives of children and adults year after
year," Snowe said in a statement.
During her career, Young has taught special
education, done mental health outreach, served as a
child-abuse supervisor for the Illinois Department
of Human Services, and spent the past 11 years doing
private practice therapy in Searsport.
