March 8, 2002 - Snowe hails passage of the Stimulus bill at a press conference with Senate colleagues. July 29, 2002 - Sen. Snowe introduces the Tripartisan 21st Century Medicare Act to provide a real prescription drug benefit for seniors.  Joining Snowe are Sens. John Breaux (D-La.), Jim Jeffords (I-Vt.), and Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa). July 30, 2002 - Sen. Snowe briefs reporters on her prescription drug legislation in the Senate Press Gallery in the U.S. Capitol.  Sens. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) and Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) joined Snowe for the briefing. October 7, 2003 - Snowe hosts an official small business hearing on manufacturing concerns of local business owners in Lewiston.

October 14, 2003 - Sen. Snowe stands with Senate and House colleagues after 95-0 vote on Snowe's "Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act". Sens. Daschle (D-SD), Kennedy (D-MA), Jeffords (I-VT), Harkin (D-IA) with Rep. Slaughter (D-NY) joined Snowe for the press conference. January 7, 2004 - Sen. Snowe details the specific provisions of the new Medicare - Prescription Drug law to local seniors in Lewiston. The legislation was approved by the Congress in November and signed into law by President Bush in December 2003. April 21, 2004 - Sen. Snowe unveils bipartisan prescription drug reimportation legislation today. Joined by Senators Dorgan (D-ND), Kennedy (D-MA), McCain (R-AZ) and Stabenow (D-MI), Snowe answered questions on the bill that will allow the safe reimportation of FDA-approved prescription drugs from Canada and the EU.

June 16, 2004 - Sen. Snowe announces endorsement of seniors advocacy group AARP on bipartisan prescription drug reimportation legislation today. Joined by AARP CEO Bill Novelli and President Marie Smith, along with Senators Dorgan (D-ND), McCain (R-AZ), Stabenow (D-MI) and Clinton (D-NY), Snowe answered questions on the bill. July 14, 2004 - Sen. Snowe joins AARP in a "Call to Action" rally on the Dorgan-Snowe Bipartisan Prescription Drug bill. Joined by members of the Maine AARP chapter, Snowe spoke to the necessity to pass this legislation now for the nation's seniors. February 1, 2005- Sen. Snowe joins Senators Wyden (D-OR) and Feinstein (D-CA) in unveiling the bipartisan Medicare Enhancement for Needed Drugs (MEND) Act. Snowe discussed the ways in which this legislation will strengthen the drug coverage offered to seniors under the 2003 Medicare prescription drug benefit.

 

February 9, 2005- Sen. Snowe discusses prescription drug importation at a press conference where she and Senator Byron Dorgan (D-ND) announced that they are introducing comprehensive, bipartisan prescription drug importation legislation, the Pharmaceutical Market Access and Drug Safety Act. February 10, 2005- Sen. Snowe joins Sen. McCain (R-AZ) and Lieberman (D-CT) in discussing the importance of addressing challenges posed by global warming. February 10, 2005- Sen. Snowe uses the cover Businessweek to illustrate her point that businesses can benefit by working to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

 

April 11, 2005- Snowe joins Senator Stevens and other Senators at a Commerce Committee hearing on E-Rate and Universal Service Fund legislation.

 

April 19, 2005- Snowe with Senators Stabenow (D-MI) and Dorgan (D-ND) testifying in front of the Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee on her drug importation bill. April 19, 2005- Snowe speaks with Senator Dorgan (D-ND) during the HELP Committee hearing on drug importation.

April 20, 2005- Snowe discusses the importance of Associated Health Plans at a Small Business Committee Hearing.

May 18, 2005- Snowe speaks about a bill she is cosponsoring that would delay Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC). Senators Thune (R-SD) and Sununu (R-NH) look on. May 26, 2005- Snowe speaks at a press conference in favor of delaying the current round of base closings.

 

 

October 19, 2005- Snowe speaks at a press conference advocating for greater funding for the Low Income Housing Energy Assistance Program  (LIHEAP) while Senators Susan Collins (R-ME) and Maria Cantwell (D-WA) look on. March 16, 2006- Snowe speaks at a press conference introducing the Terrorist Surveillance Act of 2006 while Senator Chuck Hagel (R-NE) looks on.
