WASHINGTON, D.C.—U.S. Senators Olympia J. Snowe (R-ME) and Susan M. Collins (R-ME) today announced that three Maine schools have won the U.S. Department of Education’s Blue Ribbon School award. This award recognizes schools that make significant progress in closing the achievement gap or whose students achieve at very high levels.
“We commend the faculty and staff of Yarmouth High School, Strong Elementary School and Plummer-Motz School for their commitment to ensuring that each and every child receives a quality education,” said Snowe and Collins in a joint statement. “Every day, in every school in Maine, teachers are working hard to give our children the tools they need to succeed in the 21st Century.”
Following are the three schools that won the U.S. Department of Education’s Blue Ribbon School award:
