WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today U.S. Senator Olympia J. Snowe (R-ME) issued the following statement upon the passing of Mabel Wadsworth:

“I was saddened to learn of the passing of Mabel Wadsworth, who was a cornerstone of the Bangor community. As one who admired her immensely, I can say without reservation that Mabel changed the lives of women in the state of Maine for the better. She was respected for successfully championing social change and leading efforts to broaden opportunities.

“I extend my deepest sympathies to Mabel’s family, and my thoughts and prayers are with them in this difficult time.”
