WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today U.S. Senator Olympia J. Snowe (R-Maine) announced that a U.S. Navy ship is scheduled to visit Maine this summer for the Downeast Gateway Festival in Bucksport. Senator Snowe formally requested the visit by letter to the Navy.

“Maine has had a long and proud history of seafaring and shipbuilding so visiting naval ships are essential to our summertime coastal celebrations,” said Snowe. “While it has not yet been determined which ship will be visiting our great state, I know that Mainers look forward to welcoming the one that is chosen to come to our renowned Downeast Gateway Festival.”
