WASHINGTON, D.C. – In a phone conversation late yesterday with Georgia-Pacific CEO Joe Moeller, U.S. Senator Olympia J. Snowe (R-Maine) offered her assistance her full assistance to get a buyer on board to take ownership of the Old Town mill. Snowe has been working in coordination with the Governor’s office to secure a deal so that as many workers as possible will be able to return to work.
“My conversation with G-P CEO Joe Moeller yesterday was constructive. I offered him my full assistance in reaching a deal so the mill can start operating again under new ownership,” said Snowe. “With so many families in the Old Town community relying on this mill, there is no question that time is of the essence and that a final sale must happen as quickly as possible.”
